Detailed Description
  • Context: Sponsored by the CEO, this 3 years long program aims to provide the TCS with a comprehensive enterprise reporting solution, from top management dashboards for all business units, to operational and system based listings, and relying on a fully integrated enterprise data warehouse. This program includes organization processes design, change management, deployment of a new infrastructure and implementation of the solution.
  • Lead the Implementation stream of the program (team of 4) to integrate data from assistance and insurance activities into the data warehouse, and build a reporting solution for each of these domains
  • Took part in the design and implementation of business processes related to reporting. These included new roles and responsibilities in different areas of the TCS organization.
  • Set up processes to secure and enhance the quality of the data warehouse model and sourcing strategies, making sure the business rules would be respected regardless of the data quality of the sources.

  • BI project: (2013-2014)
    The BI team in place at the TCS was handling all the report requests from the business users, who only acted as passive consumers. The consequences were a high turnaround time for reports delivery, a high users dependancy on the BI team, a low availability of the BI team for enhancements. In addition, the reporting platform was based on a Teradata database and a Business Objects platform identified as expensive.
    The IT team decided to replace this architecture with a Microsoft-based suite,from the data storage to the restitution tools, and to empower business users with self-service BI.
    My role was to participate to - and validate - the work of contractors for identifying key reports and analysing their contents in terms of dimensions and measures, and implement automated testing strategies.
  • Dynamo project (2012-2013)
    The TCS decided to replace their older AS400 CRM software by a suite of cloud-based tools, (mainly SalesForce, but also Zuora, Cameleon, Aprimo, Varicent, Boomi...). This implied to migrate the operational reports issued from the legacy system, and to source the BI platform with the new source and apply the new rules.
    I was in charge of ensuring the operational reports could be reproduced and adapted in the reporting facilities of the new transactional systems. This required to understand both the older and newer business rules, ans also to learn to use a variety of reporting tools.
    I also had to organize trainings on these reporting tools, support users in their reporting activities and facilitate adoption with the pulse to establish reporting request process and evolutive naming conventions.
  • Members count (2013):
    Each year, the TCS publishes its official number of members. Although this may seem like a simnple task, the number of different businesses addressed by the TCS with specific rules, along with the importance of this figure for each level of the organisation hierarchy, and for 2013, the impacts of the Dynamo project, made it a challenge to provide accurate numbers. I was in charge of getting the figures out of the data and validate them with the business team

Detailed Description
  • The overall BI project was started in May 2010 with the objective of meeting the rapidly increasing needs of the business for accurate, consistent and timely information to help make informed decisions. The mandate for BI stream is to build an Enterprise Data Warehouse and to provide pre-defined and self-service reporting capabilities. This project is being implemented in phased approach. The ultimate goal being that all the 600 employees eventually gain access to data through consolidated reports.
  • PQR:
    The first business team who could benefit from the BI initiative works on Price Quality Reporting. The integration of the data reported by the countries on their spending (medicine, bed nets, etc.) allows identifying inappropriate prices and helping countries to improve their money management.
  • Country Programs project:
    This phase is targeting the Country Programs area, delivering the core modules of the global BI project as well as a first set of pre-defined reports and the self-service reporting environment in different areas (Finance, Grant management, Procurement…).
  • Strategic Information project:
    The Global Fund applies the principles of performance-based funding. In order to promote accountability and transparency, and to provide incentives for recipients to use funds efficiently and effectively, the Global Fund links continued funding to the achievement of clear and measurable results. Performance-based funding provides a framework for grants to demonstrate that they can convert financing into results, enabling further funds to be committed to those programs which achieve results. The Performance Framework integration into the BI platform enables analysts to cross key programmatic indicators (number of bednets distributed, number of lives saved...) with other important data areas like expenditures and budget data.
  • Periodic review:
    Periodic reviews are an in-depth evaluation of programmatic performance, of the impact achieved and of efficient and correct use of funds, which will determine funding levels for the subsequent commitment period of Grants. Therefore, Reviews uses numerous reports in different areas (Financial, Epidemiological statistics...) in order to take subsequents decisions.
  • Round 11:
    The Global Fund needed to extend its existing BI platform in order to support the Round 11 call for proposals for new grants. Transactional and analytical reports lie at the heart of the system and support the submission, screening and processing of each proposal. Applicants must demonstrate their eligibility for new grants by using historical data based on their previous and current grants as well as other key information such as epidemiological and country statistics. 23 reports and a self-service environment will be delivered as part of the project.
